AMY POV

"Take him to the hospital."

The words came out of me before I'd fully processed saying them, my voice raw and shaking, still wrapped tightly in blankets that did nothing to chase away the cold settled deep in my bones. Antonio looked at me like I'd said something that didn't make sense, his expression caught somewhere between exhaustion and confusion.

"Amy." He said gently. "He's gone. You saw him yourself."

"I need them to check." I said, my voice rising slightly, panic still threading through every word despite how clearly impossible my request probably sounded. "Please, Antonio. I need to know for certain. I need a doctor to...
