Mila held up a key. "I borrowed this from the guard captain's office. I'll put it back after we're done so nobody will know how you escaped."

I was amazed by how much thought Mila had put into this plan. She had thought of everything.

"After you escape," Mila continued, "I'll stay here and continue investigating. I'll try to find proof of who's really behind all these attacks. Once I have evidence, I'll bring help to the caves."

"How long do you think that will take?" I asked.

"I'm not sure," Mila admitted. "Maybe a few days, maybe a week. But Daisy, you need to be very careful....
