My heart was beating so fast I thought it might explode. I held Gabriel tighter against my chest as we started running through the dark forest.

"How did they find us so quickly?" I asked Luna as we ran.

"They must have been watching the Council meeting," Luna replied, jumping over a fallen log. "They probably followed the Council members here."

Behind us, I could hear strange sounds in the darkness. Whispers that didn't sound human, and footsteps that seemed to come from too many directions at once.
