Chapter 3

Chapter 3

As I was about to leave the cemetery, a sudden, urgent ringtone pierced the air.

"Ms. Perez, someone is digging up your daughter’s grave."

Those words struck me like lightning, leaving me frozen in place.

I hadn’t erected a headstone for Jolin; instead, I planted sunflowers around her grave.

I hoped that in her next life, Jolin would be a bright and cheerful girl. This was my heartfelt wish.

Now, someone was trying to destroy my hope. I couldn't allow this to happen!

“Fitch, this place is full of sunflowers. Our dear son would be pleased with this spot I found for him.”

I ran breathlessly towards them, only to see Brynn preparing to bury her dog's ashes.

The soil had already been dug up by the Watson Family’s bodyguards, and the sunflowers I planted were trampled beyond recognition.

Jolin’s urn was carelessly tossed aside!

“What are you doing?” I shoved Brynn like a madwoman.

My face twisted in rage, I brandished a shovel, driving them away.

My gaze was so fierce it seemed like I could devour Brynn whole. She cowered in Fitch’s arms, trembling.

“Fitch, she’s so scary! Is she mentally unstable? She’s acting crazy over an unmarked grave.”

Brynn’s pitiful act made me want to bash her with the shovel.

How dare she disturb my daughter’s grave.

“Fitch, do you even know whose grave this is? You dared to dig it up…”

“This is clearly an unmarked grave. Fitch already contacted the family. The Watson Family has the resources to compensate them. I just wanted to make a comfortable resting place for our dear son. Is that so wrong?” Brynn clung innocently to Fitch.

“Sweetheart, you did nothing wrong. Giving Toby a good resting place is what matters most.”

At that moment their lovey-dovey display made me feel that a bitch and a scumbag truly deserve each other.

I quickly set Jolin's urn aside, preparing to bury her immediately.

“Stop, don’t move!” Suddenly, Fitch kicked Jolin’s urn, scattering her ashes everywhere.

“You beast! Fitch!” I stared at him in disbelief.

If Jolin’s spirit was watching, how heartbroken she must be.

“Brynn is already devastated by Toby’s death, and you won’t even give Toby a resting place? Honestly, your actions show how cold and heartless you are. Can’t you stop making such a fuss over something so trivial? You're an adult, and yet you're still arguing over a dog?”

Fitch’s cold reprimand hit me hard.

He kicked my beloved daughter’s urn, scattering her ashes, yet he scolded me for the sake of his dog.

Without a second thought, I rushed towards Jolin's urn. It had been broken by Fitch’s kick.

I tried to scoop the ashes into my bag, but before I could, a gust of wind mixed with rain blew them away.

As the sky began to drizzle, my vision darkened, and I collapsed to the ground, overwhelmed by the shock. My fever hadn't subsided, leaving me too weak to stand.

Desperately, I clawed at the air, attempting to catch the scattered ashes. But it was a futile effort.

“Ha ha ha.” I forced myself to stand, gripping the shovel tightly.

I had lost all reason.

I lunged at Fitch, raising the shovel to strike him. Fitch, who was athletic back in his school days, deftly dodged my attack.

He stared at me with wide eyes, as if seeing a stranger. I had always been gentle and caring, never laying a hand on him. But that version of me was gone. Now, I only wanted to harshly punish these two wretched people.

I shifted my focus to Brynn, striking her with the shovel. She wasn’t as agile and only partially evaded the blow. The edge of the shovel sliced her arm, taking a small chunk of flesh.

Brynn screamed, clutching her wound.

“What are you waiting for? Restrain her! I hired you to act, not to stand around watching!”

The bodyguards were momentarily stunned, failing to stop me immediately.

Soon enough, they snapped into action. Two burly men swiftly restrained me, disarming me and twisting my arms behind my back.
