Chloe's POV 

I got to the campus café ten minutes early and grabbed a table by the window. 

My phone sat face-up next to my bag. No new messages from Dale since the last one confirming the time. I kept glancing at the door every time it opened, when he finally walked in I felt a small jolt.

He looked the same as he had at the gathering, tall, dark hair, easy posture, but seeing him in normal daylight on my campus made it feel more real. He spotted me, smiled, and came straight over.

“You actually showed,” I said as he sat down.
