The silence in Tony's house felt heavy after he left for the police station. I sat curled up on the living room couch, wrapping his old sweater around my shoulders for comfort. The fabric still smelled like his cologne, warm and reassuring, but it couldn't chase away the chill that had settled in my bones.

Every shadow seemed to move, every creak of the old house made me jump. Sarah's threats echoed in my mind, mixing with the confusion about who I really was. The fake DNA reports, the hospital bracelet, all of it swirled together into a mess I couldn't untangle.
