The moment I stepped into the estate I knew something was not right.
It seemed like the estate had secrets that everyone overlooked but I couldn't overlook it. Especially when it was a threat to my position.
The first time I noticed it, I made excuses for it. A book slightly out of place on Zavian’s desk, the type he would ever use. A faint new scent in the corridor leading to his room, a scent that did not belong to him.
Servants whispered too quietly, their eyes avoiding mine whenever I walked by. It was not a new thing, servants always knew things they just wouldn't say....
