I blinked my eyes open, a dull, throbbing ache settling over my entire body.
I wasn't in the cell anymore, thank God, but that wasn't exactly a reprieve. I was lying on a ridiculously uncomfortable cot in a makeshift clinic.
I knew the drill: patch me up just enough so they could tear me down again. It was a vicious, pointless cycle.
