I ran the boot over my heels before raising my head to the men. The men Dominic had brought. They were all burly but I knew physique wasn't the first thing in battle.
It was strategy, sharp movement and precise thinking. On the bench where the ammunition lay, I reached for one of the daggers, running my fingers over it.
I had missed this, the feeling of being in control, lunging an attack, pushing the dagger into flesh until the person dropped. I had missed all of it.
