My eyelids twitched first— heavy, glued shut, dragging upwards with effort. The world came back in fragments, my breath hitching like my lungs had forgotten to work.
I knew the feeling too well. The feeling of regaining consciousness from passing out for days.
A low groan ripped out of me as I forced my eyes open, everything blurring in my sight.
The shapes bent and shook, the ceiling swimming in and out of focus like it couldn't decide whether to solidify or dissolve. I whipped my head to the other side, and in an instant, it hit me.
