“She is awake,” the words jolted into my thoughts and my eyes snapped open to see Amara by my side.

“She's awake. The doctor told me to inform you.” Amara confirmed the earlier words and a surge of relief flushed my veins.

Tension uncoiled from my shoulders as I stood in an instant.
