I watched Maria, Isabella, and Mrs. Miller fuss over me, Maria got me a plate of fruit, Matilda forced me to take a warm bath and for the first time since I was born, I felt like I belonged to a family.

"Here, have an apple," Isabella said and I opened my mouth to accept it

"Are you sure it was not Liam that hurt your leg?" Mrs. Miller asked and I shook my head.

"Mr. Miller saved me and I'm grateful," I said and they nodded.

"I have to go and check the laundry, I hope you feel better soon Laura," Matilda said and I nodded my thanks....
