The
hospital room dissolves, morphing to that of the front porch. Hoisting her up
on my arms, I nodded at Newman as he held the door open for us, “You know what
to do.” Newman nodded his head and I thanked him, heading up to her bedroom,
all of my thoughts preoccupied by my desire of tucking her in and watching her
sleep until she opens her eyes. Newman followed us, putting a distance of a
couple of feet away, his face void of emotions but his eyes lingering at Rubin.
I waved my hand in front at her door, unlocking it before Newman turns the knob...
