He inhaled my neck and down to my collarbone like he was testing something, like I was an object left too long on a shelf. Then he pulled back slightly, his brows tightening.

I hissed under my breath and stepped away from him, whispering, "I wasn't ready for you either."
I turned toward the stairs, already replaying my outing with Jessica and how I'd sleep after having a cold bath.
