POV: Maya

The week after my date with Damien, everything changed. It started small. Professor Mitchell began appearing everywhere. When I left for school in the morning, he'd be outside, just happening to be getting in his car at the same time.

"Morning, Maya! I'm heading to school too. Why don't you ride with me? Save you the bus fare."

The first time, I agreed. It seemed harmless, even helpful. But then it became every day. He'd wait by his car until I came out, smiling like we'd planned it, making it impossible to say no without being rude.

"You really don't have to drive me," I said on Wednesday...
