ELENA
"Mum, do you fucking know the kind of man you’re getting married to?” I spoke, staring at the woman I called my mother.
Swiftly, she veered around to meet my countenance, which burned with fury. Attempting to convince her that I didn't want to spend days at Diego’s house was becoming nearly impossible, where she wasn’t willing to listen.
“What kind of question is that, Elena? I know that you have clearly expressed your distaste for him, but that doesn’t give you the right to question my relationship with him.” Leashed out my mom that subconsciously I swallowed. Her glares on me became evident.
Why was she being this difficult, clearly the man she was about getting married to was a worthless piece of trash? I breathe out heavily, wanting to calm my nerves, knowing that I would explode soon.
Her hands moved back to the dishes and coldly her voice continued, “I won’t take it that your trying to create problems between Diego and I and if you should keep up with this attitude, I will have no choice other than to send you to your dad’s family.” Her voice held all seriousness that it had me frowning, and I lifted my weight from the wall, walking towards her.
“I’m not trying to create problems between you both mom, all I’m saying is that he isn’t what he portraits out. You can’t marry him. He’s fucking cheating on yo-” a well sounded slap scaled across my face bringing a numbing feeling. The pain registered through my face. It had completely halted my ongoing words.
I gazed at my mum in awe.
“Don’t cross the line Elena, because I won’t stand and listen to you bad-mouthing Diego. I know you can’t come to terms that I’m getting married, but you should know your limits and don’t dare cross them.” The coldness which she emitted sliced through my skin where I kept mute.
“Such discussion shouldn’t bring itself up.” She dropped the dishes and angrily she walked away, leaving me standing in the kitchen, stunned to the bone.
Shakily, my hand reached to touch the side of my cheek. Bitterness had slipped into my tongue. This was the first time in a long time she had dared raise her hand to slap me and now she did it in a heartbeat just because of a man who was merely using her. Just how desperately in love was she?
Obviously, I knew there was no one capable enough to talk her out of the madness she was driving into. At least I did my best in wanting to convince her that the man was a fucked up bastard.
_
“Are you fucking serious? She slapped you because you tried telling her the truth?” Lisa’s voice danced in disbelief and I couldn’t blame her because it wasn’t something I expected, either.
Breathily, I pushed my words out. “He’s a bad person, and it pains me knowing that he’s deceiving my mom and she’s falling into his trap.”
“Well, you can’t say for sure whether he’s a bad man or not, Elena. You barely know him and your mom knows him longer.” Lisa chipped in that I almost shut her a glare.
“He was fucking threatening to kill me if I should tell my mom about what almost happened between us and, as if that wasn’t enough, he convinced my mom to send me to his place. I would have to spend some few days there.” I watched as Lisa collected her tray of food before she veered around and we walked along the path of the canteen.
Taking the table which was positioned at the far end of the hall, far from attention, I resume my gazes back at her and continued.
“What if he actually kills me? And call it an accident. I can’t take that risk, Lisa. I won’t go to his place.” I pressed on my persistence.
“You have a wide imagination, I’m sure he only said that to scare you off from telling your mom, if he wanted to kill you, he would have done it before coming to your place and guess what?” with expectancy lacing around my feature I stared at her were she added. “You’re still alive and there haven’t been any attempted murder on your life, so trust me girl you’re safe.”
Her joke wasn't funny one bit, but then again, I found some bit of sense in what she said. He would have killed me if he wanted to, however, it wasn’t still enough reason for me to welcome myself into his house. I was strong in my decision. I won’t go and my mum can’t force me either.
“Speaking about your soon to be hot step dad, you can’t deny that you find him attractive. Sexy and hot.” Lisa picked a piece of chip, rolling her tongue around in a sexy way that it was hard for me not to find it disgusting. “Just imagine all the naughty things you could do to him, and perhaps there’s a chance that he would continue what-“
“Have you finally lost a screw? He’s the man who my mom is going to get married too, how can I have such sinful thoughts about him? Geez stop it Lisa.” Saying it, my eyes traveled away from her and within my heart. What she said was true. He was still fucking hot in my eyes.
Immediately, I rebuked the thoughts away from my head. I shouldn’t think of him that way. It’s wrong Elena. I don’t want to get myself entangled with him.
“Hmmm, holy Mary at her finest.” Came the joking voice of Lisa and she received my glaring eyes. “He’s hot Elena and you can’t deny it and also you can’t deny that your pussy did not drip with wetness when you’re around him. There’s no harm in exploring your fantasy.”
Lisa leaned in and whispered into my ears, “If it were to be me, I won’t mind trying to get into his bedroom. His smooth muscles, godly dick, his touches.” She shivered at her indecent thoughts, where I knew that she was completely crazy and needed some deliverance.
“You’re turning into a bad influence on me, Lisa. We should probably end our friendship before you make me do something stupid.” Nonchalantly, my voice echoed. My hands reaching to grab some of her chips.
“I have that effect on everyone. You know what the bible says, evil communication corrupts good manners and about corruption look whose coming.” Lisa's eyes traveled along with mine and we spotted a boy with curly hair that my heart touched the back of my throat.
I whispered to Lisa, my eyes not leaving the boy who was approaching our table. “When did he get back and how come I wasn’t informed about it?”
“Well, you were too busy dreaming about fucking your soon to be a father that Jackson had escaped your mind, I think his going to ask you out and don’t you fucking dare reject him, you’re too old not to have a man in your life baby girl. I heard he finally broke up with that witch.”
She was right; I didn’t have a boyfriend and thinking about it, maybe it was the reason I felt sensitive about men. I should probably consider dating. Maybe it will break my thoughts off that man. Dreamily, I pulled a charming smile onto my lips.
He reached our table, and his voice resonated. “Good day ladies, I see you’re having a wonderful discussion. Care to tell me about it? Elena.” He greeted, and he drew the chair closer to me and took his seat.
I was having difficulty in breathing at his circling presence. Lisa returned his words with a smile and spoke.
“Just discussing hot men. You know there aren’t many hot boys in this school, except you, of course.” She gave a dirty wink, and it got me thinking, how did I even get myself associated with someone like Lisa when we were the total opposite of each other.
She was outspoken and bold with her words were I on the other hand, could barely breathe in Jackson’s presence.
Seemly he took an interest in what Lisa stated and his remarks were soon drawn to me. “What about you Elena do you fine me attractive or hot, perhaps?” He leaned his body into my chair, and we almost inhaled the same oxygen.
Blinking my eyes multiple times to clear my head, I cleared my throat where I was literally chewing my lips to find a response that won’t seem direct. “Everyone knows you’re hot, Jackson. There’s no secret to that.” I maintained the eye contact he posed on me. It wasn’t easy staring at his deep grey eyes. I felt completely drawn.
“Everyone isn’t you, the question was if you find me hot or not?” he pressed on his question again.
Lisa had then kicked my foot under the table, causing my eyes to briefly merge upon hers and she held a warning glare for me not to mess things up.
Under pressure, I had to admit. “I find you hot, Jackson. Happy now, please leave me alone.” Came my quick reply and I resume my hand on my meal, which I was yet to touch. A shade of redness had colored my cheeks, feeling heated.
A knowing smile arched on the side of his lips, and then he moved his hand to grab my juice and took a sip from it. My eyes fell back on him.
Then, out of the blue, he remarked. “Since you find me hot, would you mind going on a date with me tonight? I won’t take no for an answer if you’re thinking about rejecting my proposal.”
Lisa butted in, when it wasn’t her who had the choice to make. “She won’t even think of saying no. Tonight she’s totally free and she would love to go on a late night romantic date with you, right Elena?”
Why bother asking me when she had openly sold me off without thinking twice? It would be now wrong and rude of me if I wanted to reject him, which left me with no option than accepting.
“I would love a date tonight.” The smile on my lips lengthened, and it was with awkwardness.
“Good then. I will pick you at your place around seven if that’s good with you.” I shook my head in response and we shared a smile before he strolled away, his mission accomplished.
“And that’s how you score a perfect date with the hottest boy on campus now you got yourself a date tonight and won’t have to think about your hot stepdad.”
“Thank you for reminding me about him Lisa.” Sarcastically I hurled.
I had a date, and it was something I would be looking forward to and possibly a distraction where I had completely forgotten that I was supposed to go to Diego’s place.
When I got home, my mum wasn’t back, and I was kind of happy that she wasn’t home, after last night incident of her slapping me, we haven’t had a conversation, as I was a avoiding her.
Since I had a date and Jackson would be picking me up later this evening, I had to get myself dolled up and perfect to his taste in girls. Last semester, in one of the parties hosted, Jackson and I almost had a thing together, but unfortunately his girlfriend had barged in upon us, which led to something big in school, her calling me a boyfriend snatcher when it wasn’t my fault. I was drunk and him on the other hand, was merely trying to take advantage of me, which I didn’t mind.
It wasn't everyday you get to be alone with someone hot and handsome like him when you’re single and expect nothing to happen. Well now either way I was happy that he was now single and taking an open pursuit of me. It was something I needed right now.
I was now ready. A black full sleeved dress hung perfectly on my body. I let my hair down flowing to reach my waist and with a little touch of makeup, my looks were on point. I smiled, staring at my reflection in the mirror.
My gaze moved to my phone, which rang and it was my mum’s caller ID which appeared on the screen. My eyes momentarily hardened as I wasn’t in the mood to speak with her. I didn’t answer her phone call. She kept calling a few times, and I switched off my phone. The honking of the car made me realize that Jackson was here
Rushing, I picked some few important things before walking out.
