DELILAH’S POV.
“Wait." His voice stopped me in my tracks, and as I turned around, I watched him walk to me. His fists were clenched, and his jaw was sitting in a tense way that made me uneasy.
“What's wrong…."
“I can't let you go knowing that you could be hurt. Are you sure you're okay?" His words weren't ones I was expecting, but my heart swelled knowing that he was concerned.
“I'm fine by you don’t have to worry about me. I’m just your wife on paper”
Furrowed brows stared back at me with confusion at what I just said.
“Then you should learn how to be more careful” he said, anger obviously in his tone.
Why was he angry all of a sudden?
Opening and closing my mouth, I tried to find the words to say to me. I was suddenly afraid to say the wrong thing in front of him.
“No woman deserves to be treated the way you were treated, Delilah. I found it wrong. I only helped because every woman deserve to be treated like a queen. Not like a piece of property. There’s no mutual feeling and you should as well be more careful” he said.
His words stunned me, and before I could say anything, he turned with quick movements, clenching and unclenching his fists, and walked out of the corridor.
I wasn't sure what had just happened, but I was sure of one thing.
He had saved my life in a way.
And he was angry at me!
Damn you Delilah. You should have acted nice. He just saved your life!” I yelled in my head.
I sighed. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to feel right now, but turning on my feet, I slowly walk out.
“Delilah," Mira ran to me.
“Oh, my God. I was scared for a minute. I thought something had happen" she said.
I pass her a smile.
She looks cute when worried.
“I’m fine” I said.
“My goodness!” She touched her chest.
“I was wondering where you are seriously!” She muttered and I smile again.
“I got to go Mira. I will see you some other time!” I muttered.
“Sure. Take care of yourself for me!”
She muttered and I nodded.
Thereafter, we bid ourselves farewell.

Zachary came home late last night but I was already asleep. I woke up early this morning to prepare breakfast for him.
I wanted to use it to apologize for the way I spoke to him yesterday.
As I was setting the dinning table, he came downstairs already dressed for work.
“I made breakfast. There are churros and cinnamon rolls...”
I said. I could see his eyes fixed on my light green apron that was dotted with little daisies.
“I don’t like sweet things for breakfast.”
He refused coldly.
I was slightly hurt. I watched him walked to the kitchen and came back with a carton of fresh milk from the fridge.
I pouted.
It appeared he was determined not to try the food i made.
What a pretentious man!
Regardless, i had no problem enjoying the food myself.
I returned to the kitchen to continue making churros.
He appeared a few seconds later to warm up the milk. From the corners of my eyes, i noticed he was staring at me as I shaped the dough into several long sticks in a practiced manner before placing them into the hot oil.
I smiled.
Within seconds, golden logs floated to the top of the oil. They released a delicious smell that attacked my nostrils.
I noticed a hint of light flashed across his eyes.
He must have been marveled at my cooking skills.
I noticed him staring and playfully picked up a churro, waving it in front of his eyes.
“Mr Zachary , are you sure you don’t want a taste of this?”
“Not interested.”
He averted his gaze and placed the milk inside the microwave.
Then, as if out of habit, he placed a piece of bacon between two slices of toast and shoved in a handful of lettuce. He started munching on the sandwich by the dining table.
I watched him groan and frustratedly covered one side of the toast with a thick layer of fruit jam.
Right then, i appeared in front of him and placed a whole feast in front of his eyes. Churros, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, a cup of hot chocolate…
He twitched his brows into a deep frown as i blinked innocently.
“Mr. Zachary, you don’t mind me eating here, do you?”
He watched on silently as i began the show.
I smiled again before feasting on my food.
“Please forgive me for having a sweet tooth. I really can’t endure having to start the day with a bowl of boring cereal or a plain sandwich. It would be a huge disappointment for my tastebuds.”
Then, I had a massive bite of the churros. I closed my eyes as a look of satisfaction washed over my face.
“The flavor just bursts in your mouth. Mhmm, it’s so delicious.”
He remained silent.
I knew he was watching me despite my eyes closed.
“It’s a must to enjoy warm pancakes with high-quality butter. Then, a sip of hot chocolate to go down with it.”
I continued on with the eating show.
I was savoring every bite of food in earnest.
“Meow.” I opened my eyes as Dave leaped onto the dining table while wagging its tail.
Thinking the cat must be hungry, I watched Zachary walked over to the cupboard. He returned with a plate of cat food and placed it before Dave.
Dave sniffed it for a few seconds before turning its head away. It looked at me with greedy eyes.
An awkward expression flashed across the Zachary’s face.
I suppressed the desire to laugh before feeding the cat a small piece of the cinnamon roll. The little cat devoured it within seconds.
“Good kitty.”
I patted the cat on the head lovingly.
‘You have much better taste than your owner,’ i thought to herself.
I knew Mr. Zachary felt embarrassed. After the cat ate two more bites of the cinnamon roll, it went on to enjoy the churros. This put a frown on his already embarrassed face.
“You…”
I seized the opportunity and shoved a piece of churros into his mouth.
A hint of anger flashed across his eyes. Just when he was about to spit it out, the crispy outside of the churros that were coated with cinnamon sugar melted on his tongue.
Instinctively, he began chewing on the dense dough.
“Is it nice?” I asked, cupping my chin with both hands. I was so confident in my cooking.
The light went out of his eyes when he noticed the smug smile on my face.
“It’s just alright.”
Then, he picked up another piece of churros and continued eating. I guessed the small bite from earlier was not enough for him to taste its full flavor properly.
I winked playfully.
“Didn't you say it’s just alright?”
“Surely you can’t finish all these. I don’t like wasting food,”He replied calmly.
I parted my lips to retaliate, but he interrupted with a frown, “Keep quiet during meal times.”
I gasped in astonishment as i had never seen anyone like him.
He had said coolly that he did not like having sweet foods for breakfast, but he was now devouring the churros, pancakes, and cinnamon rolls—the hot chocolate too.
He sure had the cheek!
“Mr Zachary, what do you want to eat for dinner? I’ll make it for you,” i said gently.
“I have a dinner appointment tonight.”
After he said that, he stood up and left.
I sighed.
What a cold hearted man.
After Zachary left, I took out the dishes and clear the dinning area.
I wash the dirty plate and made sure everywhere was neat.
I took out my phone and noticed I got a mail.
I entered and saw the job application I applied for two days again was accepted and I was asked to come for my interview.
I hurriedly ran upstairs to dressed up.
*************
Upon arriving at the company, I went straight to the receptionist.
She pointed at where other participants were waiting and urge me to wait as well.
I walked up to a lady and sat beside her. Just then, the lady gaze was on my ring.
Her eyes were gleaming as she asked, “it seems you’re married?”
“Quite the observant one, aren’t you?” I said. I had no intention of hiding anything. “I’ve recently gotten married.”
“Congratulations, dear!” The young girl scrutinized the ring, commenting, “Did your husband gift you this? It’s not a very big diamond, is it? How much did it cost?”
“A little over one thousand.”
I actually did not know anything about Zachary financial background so i had chosen a pair of the cheapest and simplest rings that i could find.
I watched her brows furrowed and she stated with a solemn expression on her face, “That simply won’t do at all! A wedding ring is a symbol of your marriage. How dependable can a man be, if he won’t even buy you a better ring?”
“It’s fine. He’s just doing the best that he can,” i answered.
Noting the sympathetic look in her eyes, i realized that she probably thought that my new husband was not very rich enough”
“That’s enough. Let’s not talk about this anymore.” I swiftly changed the subject, unwilling to linger on it any longer. “Are you here for the interview as well?”
I asked her.
“Hahaha, most definitely!” She replied.
My distraction tactic had been successful, as she soon gestured towards her attire. “Hey, what do you think? Am I beautiful?”
It was only then i noticed that she was dressed in a pink and white skirt dress set. Her hair had also been styled carefully.
“You look amazing!” I complimented.
Tickled pink by my words of praise, her eyes soon lit up in delight.
“Then, do you suppose that I’ll have a chance with the wealthy, bachelor president of Shun Group?”
I blinked in surprise, as an understanding dawned upon me as to why she had gone through so much trouble to doll herself up.
The person that would be interviewing them later this afternoon was the president of Shun Group.
In Seville City, Shun Group was akin to that of a legend.
Three years ago, the company suddenly popped up out of nowhere. Rapidly, it managed to make a name for itself in the finance industry, using extremely aggressive methods.
Within the next three years, it managed to become one of the financial magnates of in this City, as it was on par with the top three families in the city.
Yet, what had caught everyone’s attention more, was the president of the company.
Even now, nobody knew what his name was, or how he looked like. His entire identity was a mystery, a fact that only added more to his allure.
There was no better example to use, than the young lady, who specifically took time to dress up and come for an interview.
Amusement glinted in my eyes as she teased, “Are you sure that you’d want to leave such a good impression on him? Aren’t you worried that the president might be a bald, old man?”
“Pfft! I don’t believe that!” She stomped her foot in annoyance. “Rumor has it that he’s supposed to be really young!”
“This interview is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so i need to be fully prepared for it. This is the first time that the president decided to set an interview”
She said and i nodded in understanding.
It was true that the president of Shun Group had never once done an interview before.
“Miss Delilah!” I heard my name being called by the secretary.
“Goodluck “ The young lady beside me all this while, wished me and I smile.
I immediately stood up.
“It’s time for your interview. Follow me!” She said and I only nodded.
My chest was beating so hard as we took the elevator all the way up to the top floor.
“Are you Mrs. Delilah ?”The secretary came over to us the moment we stepped out of the elevator. I nodded and she continued,
“Mr. Zachary is already waiting inside for you.”
With that said, she led me into the president’s office.
I paused slightly when I heard the secretary’s words.
Mr. Zachary? Who would have thought that the president of Shun Group would share the same name as my new husband?
Right before we entered, I felt so nervous.
“Is my hair alright? Is it messy? Oh, it better not be messed up...”
Snickering softly, i murmured to myself, “You’re fine. Not a single hair is out of place”
I tried to assure myself.
“We’re here” The secretary said.
His chair was turned back to us.
Before i could say anything, the chair slowly whirled around to face us.
My eyes widened.
I was so shocked.
I did not hear a single word that the secretary had uttered afterwar de
My attention was focused on him.
At that moment, my brain felt as though it had stopped working, as i stared at him, utterly dumbfounded.
The rays of light pouring in from the window had cast the sharp angles of his face in the shadows, while his dark orbs were as cold as ever.
It was Mr. Zachary.
The president of Shun Group is Mr. Zachary shun?
My husband?
My mouth immediately went agape.
