The following morning, I woke up quite early enough to leave, however, I didn't know my attempt was going to be stopped by Clay when we both bumped into each other at the door.
"Leaving so soon,?" He closed the door behind me and pushed me back in.
"Yeah! Thank you Clay but I'll have to go,".
I said straight to him ...
"Go to where,?" He carried my hand and opened the door.
"Look outside," he bade.
"What happened,!" I grumbled but looked outside the door, and I saw that my luggage has been brought along with him.
"Isn't that my things,?" I came outside and held my bags, he also brought the flower pot I got from a friend I met with last year, Eve.
"Yes, Anna! That's your thing," He approached me, "Do you want to know how I came to get it,?' he gave me space to communicate.
"Yes, what is going on,?" I raised a question.
Clay puts his hand on his cheeks and then Said
"Anna! While you were sleeping, I got a call from your landlord, he wanted you to leave his apartment, it seems someone else has paid for it and would be packing in today,?".
He wasn't sure.
Immediately I picked up my phone and called Mr. Sam.
We were both talking on the phone, while Clay maintained a consecutive face at me.
I spoke with Mr. Sam and the exact words, Clay had spoken to me, were the same thing I heard on the phone.
He dares to oust me from the apartment because I couldn't pay my rent, I have been a good tenant, what more does he want from me?
"Anna! What will you do now,?"
Clay asked me, instantly after the call severed.
"You tell me! What should I do because I am out of ideas," I said, I dragged my bag to the corner and sat on it.
"Look!," He came forward and pulled me up from pouting to myself.
"I have an empty room upstairs and I think I can rent it out, you do have cash right,?".
His eyes went straight to my handbag.
I do have some cash on me, and it might be worth staying here.
"I do have some cash on me," I made reply.
"Good! Then welcome to your new home, my roommate,". He grab the hand of one of my luggage and took it inside, along with my flower pot.
I took the other bag and I went after him, I shut the door behind and Clay takes me to a room upstairs.
"This is your new room, and we will talk about your monthly dues later on,".
He dropped my bag and went away.
The room is a bit spacious and it also has a bathroom, I wonder why Clay would want me to stay with him, a common stranger...
I arranged my clothes inside the wardrobe and came downstairs.
I met my new roommate in the kitchen and he was busy chopping peppers and onions.
"Anna, I'm glad you came, you're hungry right,?" He kept on chopping more pepper and onion.
"Yes, But what are you cooking,?" I sat down on the chair next to the kitchen table
"Food! Don't worry, you'll enjoy it, " he looked at my face, and turned back to the pot boiling on the gas stove.
I sat down and watched Clay prepare Breakfast, I even volunteered to aid but he didn't want me near, so as not to mess with his creativity.
He sounds like a chef, maybe is he?
Thereupon, Clay asked me to bring along two plates and keep them on the breakfast table, I took along two glass cups and carefully kept them on the table.
"Please sit down," Clay came out from the kitchen and brought along a huge bowl of spaghetti and meatballs.
"You needed so many pepper and onion for this dish,!".
I chimed displeased while taking my seat at the breakfast table.
"Of cause Anna, I love my dish hot, and besides I love to cook,"
He picked up my plate.
"Cooking makes me happy, I feel human while doing that,!". He holds dear.
"What! I don't understand, what do you mean by what you just said,?".
I questioned
I gave more room for further Interrogation.
Clay looks at me.
"Don't worry, you wouldn't understand," he giggled nervously and dropped my plate in front of me.
Why am I feeling like there is more than what Clay is letting on, what exactly does he mean by he feels human while cooking, do I have to worry or am I just overthinking this?
I picked up my fork and tasted the dish Clay made, at the beginning I felt unrequited to judge him if the food wasn't good, but it went beyond my expectation.
"Fuck! This is delicious," I saluted him.
"Thanks," Clay sat down on his chair opposite mine and beamed.
Who knew there are men out there like clay that know how to cook, of cause most men do, but there's something oddly intriguing about him.
I don't just know what is!
After having breakfast with Clay, I took it upon myself to clean the plates we used, at least I can contribute even though he didn't let Me assist him in the kitchen.
I am in the kitchen cleaning the dishes we used when I suddenly looked out the window and I saw a man come down from a dark-tinted car, he looked all over Clay's apartment before coming toward the door.
