Zoey still couldn't believe what had just happened to her.

Mike had gone, Amy wasn't here anymore and Eve still had a smug smile on her face.

While she was still on the ground where she had been for the past thirty minutes. She couldn't help but lament.

"Why do you always do this?"

"What did I do so wrong?"

"Do you love to see me unhappy?"

"Why do you hate me so much?" Zoey asked all at once.

The emotions were just too much. Right now, she couldn't control her anger.

She was so pissed.

She felt so betrayed.

"We must preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be prohibited." Eve said getting up from where she sat down.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Zoey asked in confusion.

Was this woman really quoting professor umbridge right now?

Was she really saying something from Harry Potter right now?

Does this look like a joke to her?

"What I'm saying is that you're not useful and so all those things doesn't apply to you."

"You cannot be perfected. I mean you were abandoned by your own mother, what makes you think you can find your happily ever after!"

"Nobody can love you Zoey, you don't deserve to be loved." Eve said with scorn in her voice.

Zoey couldn't believe her ears.

Was all that true?

Does she truly not deserve to be loved?

Was that why Mike abandoned her too?

Will she always be abandoned?

Since her real parents abandoned her, does that mean that she will always be abandoned?

How could this even be true?

Oh goodness lord.

Eve's phone dinged and Zoey raised her head to look at Eve.

"Look at this." Eve said showing Zoey her phone.

"Mission accomplished." Zoey said reading the text message after looking at the picture that was sent to her.

"Recognize it?" Eve asked Zoey and Zoey could feel fresh tears dropping down her face once again.

Mike had sent her the pictures of the ring he was going to put on her finger.

She looked at the picture of the ring every single day. There's no way she wasn't going to recognize it.

"Your sister has done what you failed to do."

"Under thirty minutes, your sister has managed to secure a man and yet you are on the floor wailing over a man, dirtying my Persian rug with your ugly tears." Eve snapped.

"Get up from that floor and get out of my sight. I don't even want to look at you." Eve yelled angrily before looking back at her phone and smiling again.

Zoey immediately got up from where she was and went to her room to cry.

This was just too much for her.

She couldn't believe that all this was happening.

Maybe Mike didn't love her in the first place.

Maybe it was Amy he wanted from the start but if that was true, then why didn't he just say that?

She would have gone out of the way if he said he was interested in Amy but that's just her overthinking.

The truth was that he didn't want Amy.

He wanted her but Amy just can't bear to see her happy.

Nobody in this house can bear to see her happy.

Nobody wants the best for her.

Family is supposed to have your back but hers was definitely different.

Nobody loved her. And that was because she was undeserving.

She didn't deserve love. And it was obvious now.

Her grandma Nina had always told her that everyone deserves to be loved and there's a possibility that her mother didn't actually abandon her.

Grandma Nina always liked to find the good in everything.

She would say everything happened for a reason and that if Zoey spent her time worrying about what was instead of focusing on what is then she would end up with headache.

And it was mostly true and so Zoey hardly worried when Grandma Nina was alive.

Grandma Nina was like her very own superman. She stood by her and supported her even when she lost her memories.

Grandma Nina was diagnosed with Frontotemporal dementia. It's progressive nerve loss in the brain's frontal lobes.

And despite that, she was still nice to her.

Grandma Nina despite loosing her memories still treated her right.

She was the only one in this family that cared about her.

Her father - James didn't even spare her a glance when he was home. He was always busy with one thing or the other.

It was really painful but Zoey could cope with it as long as she had Grandma Nina.

But when Grandma Nina died, she lost that hope.

They didn't even want her to go to Grandma Nina's funeral and so they locked her up in her room and left her to mourn alone.

She never really got a chance to say goodbye to her Grandma.

She didn't get to see her off.

Grandma Nina might have not been related to her biologically but she was more family than Eve or Amy would ever be.

And if she was here, she would have stopped Eve from saying all those things about her and Amy wouldn't have been able to convince Mike to marry her instead.

If she was here, Zoey wouldn't have to feel this much anguish and pain.

If she was here, Zoey wouldn't feel like she was drowning.

But she wasn't here. And that hurts so much.

Zoey was lost. It was like she was standing in a maze all alone.

She was unsure of where to go and neither did she know what she was going to face in this maze.

Maybe she should ask her father for help.

Maybe he would help her.

She always thought he liked to ignore her and he really didn't care for her existence but maybe it's because she never gave him the chance to do so.

Maybe she should ask him for help.

He could help her.

He should help her.

He's her father after all. Or so she thinks.
