Chapter1

#Chapter1

Hello, my name is Sammy Navarro, and I'm 17 years old. What am I like? Well, I have fair skin, green eyes, well-formed and plump lips, long light brown hair with some blonde highlights. I'm not very tall, slim, and somewhat muscular due to boxing. Yes, you heard that right, I box—not as a career, but as a sport.

I'm just an ordinary girl, and I don't consider myself special, especially not because of the money I have. My mother took over my father's company after he passed away. She doesn't spend much time with me, and I'm often alone at home when I'm not on tour singing. I only have one friend because people only approach me for my money, not for who I am.

I wake up to the sound of my cellphone alarm, turn it off, lay out my clothes on my bed. I head into the bathroom and take a shower. After I'm done, I come out in my underwear and get dressed. I choose a pair of slightly ripped jeans, a cropped top revealing my well-toned abdomen, black military-style boots matching my black top. I leave my hair loose and apply a bit of makeup. Once I'm ready, I head downstairs to the kitchen.

Sammy - Hi, Mom.

Ángela - Hi, sweetheart. I'm home early today because I want to talk to you.

Sammy - Okay, Mom, I don't like it when you call me "sweetheart."

Ángela - Alright, Sammy. Just know that you'll always be my sweetheart.

Sammy - I'm leaving now. I'm running late for university. Love you, Mom.

Ángela - Alright, Sammy. Please be careful.

I nod and leave the house. I get into my Jeep, a black off-road vehicle that describes me—beautiful but tough. I'm not the same naive and timid girl I used to be, but that's another story I'll tell you later. I drive to the university, park my car, and head inside. On my way, I meet my friend Sofia.

Sammy - Hi, Sofia.

Sofía - Hi, Sammy.

We walk together and enter our classrooms. After several classes, the bell rings, indicating break time. Sofia and I head to the cafeteria to grab something to eat. Once we've bought our food, we find a table away from the other students. I don't like associating with shallow and artificial people. After finishing our meal, the bell rings again, signaling the end of break. We return to our classes and after a few hours, we're out of the university. I drop my friend off at her house and head to mine. Upon arrival, I enter the house, drop my belongings in my room, change into comfortable sportswear—shorts, a sports top, and sneakers.

Once I'm changed, I head downstairs and get into my car. I drive to the boxing gym and upon arrival, I step out of the car and enter the gym. After a warm-up, I put on my boxing gloves and start hitting the punching bag. When I'm done, I leave the gym, get back into my car, and drive home. Once I'm back, I go upstairs to my room to take a shower. After that, I change into something comfortable to start on my homework.

Fully dressed, I start working on my homework. After a while, I hear a car pull up, but I don't bother to look out. I know it's my mom who just arrived. Shortly after, she calls me downstairs. I get up from my bed and head out of my room.

Sammy - COMING, MOM!

I descend the stairs and when I reach the bottom, I see my mom with a man in a suit, tattoos on his hands and neck from what I can see. At a glance, he looks intimidating and like he just got out of prison. I wonder where my mom found this guy...

Sammy - Yes, Mom?

Ángela - Sammy, I'd like you to meet your bodyguard.

Sammy - I'm sorry for what I'm about to say—I don't judge anyone, but he doesn't look like a bodyguard to me. Based on what I've seen in movies, he's nothing like one.

Ángela - Oh dear, not everything you see in movies is like real life.

– I nod.

Sammy - Hi, I'm Sammy Navarro.

– I give a polite smile.

Andrés - Nice to meet you. I'm Andrés Palacios.

Ángela - Well, dear, I'm leaving because I have a trip. I'm leaving you in good hands, Sammy.

Sammy - Okay, Mom. When will you be back?

Ángela - Probably in three days, if everything goes well. If not, then a week.

Andrés - Yes, ma'am. You can count on that. Have a good trip.

Ángela - Thank you. Sammy, behave well. Alright, I'm leaving now, otherwise, I'll be late for the airport.

I say goodbye to my mom, feeling a bit sad, and watch her leave the house until she's out of sight. Then I notice Andrés speaking.

Andrés - Don't worry, Miss. Before you know it, your mom will be back.

Sammy - Thanks.

I go to my room and need to finish my homework.

Sammy - You can do whatever you want. If you're hungry, help yourself in the kitchen.

- I point with my finger.

Andrés - Thank you, and aren't you hungry?

Sammy - I'll come down later for dinner. Excuse me.

I walk away and head upstairs. Upon reaching my room, I continue with my homework. After some time, I grab my cellphone and check my social media. Nothing interesting. Since I'm hungry, I head downstairs to the kitchen. I don't see anyone there. I prepare a sandwich, then put everything away. I pour myself a glass of water and leave the kitchen. I exit the house quietly and head to my favorite spot outside—an art studio that my dad gifted me. I enter and sit down to eat. Once I'm done eating, I start singing a song I wrote for an idiot who mocked me.

(Song: Predator)

This is the story I've come to tell

Of a deceitful man and his deadly spell

I gave my life without asking for much

And ended up in the darkness, reality's harsh touch

In this bleak abyss, alone I dwell

Unveiling the truth, a bitter tale

My soul's filled with a bitter solitude

And in revenge, my thoughts preclude

I bleed my eyes dry from all the tears

A twisted gaze that fuels your fears

As you fall wounded, begging for grace

And only then will my soul find its resting place

Tremble, for your predator's here

You stole away all the hope I held dear

Deception's the only thing your mind can bring

You're the serpent that poisoned me within

I bring sweet words of love anew

The ones you used in your twisted debut

A loving, gallant, and honest guy

Only existed within your twisted lie

Only existed within your twisted lie

(Only existed within your twisted lie)

Look, tremble, for the predator's returned

As soon as I can, I'll make you burn

You deluded yourself and believed in my fall

But no one will save you—I'm here to demolish all

From my imprisonment, you were on my mind

Dreaming of you often, frequently confined

For love, one day, I lost it all

But I return renewed, just to watch you fall

(I tell you, you wretch)

(I'm here to watch you fall)

Tremble, for your predator's here

You stole away all the hope I held dear

Deception's the only thing your mind can bring

You're the serpent that poisoned me within

I bring sweet words of love anew

The ones you used in your twisted debut

A loving, gallant, and honest guy

Only existed within your twisted lie

Only existed within your twisted lie

(Only existed within your twisted lie)

Tremble, for your predator's here

You stole away all the hope I held dear

Deception's the only thing your mind can bring

You're the serpent that poisoned me within

I bring sweet words of love anew

The ones you used in your twisted debut

A loving, gallant, and honest guy

Only existed within your twisted lie

Only existed within your twisted lie
