Caden proposed a second meeting, calling his people in. As we all came together for the second meeting, the room was filled with an uneasy tension. The rogue pack talked in hushed tones, and my mother fidgeted uncomfortably next to Ardan, looking like they wanted to be anywhere else in the world but here. At the head of the table, Caden leaned forward, his features were unreadable but his authority was unmistakable.

“Let me tell you my plan,” Caden said immediately, “I‘m willing to retract my threats for war. What I want is peace—but on my terms.”
