It had been days since I learned the truth: I was wolfless. A defect. An outcast. That knowledge weighed me down and it made me feel like I was isolated from the rest of the world. I had distant myself from my mother, Marcus, and even Rachel. The feeling of being cursed, of being a loser, weighed me down and I couldn’t bear it.
For long hours, I remained on the edge of the camp with averted eyes, and a concerned face. But Marcus found me. Sitting on a tree trunk, daydreaming, the sound of his voice jerked me back to reality.
“Evelyn,” he said my name again....
