No one slept properly.
We pretended to rest. We sat down. We closed our eyes. But the building stayed awake with us.
Footsteps echoed softly through the halls. Doors opened and closed. Radios hissed low, then went quiet again.
The meeting was set for the next night.
Twenty-four hours sounds like time. It isn’t. Not when every second feels like it’s leaning forward.
Cassian spent the morning locked into logistics. Routes. Entry points. Exit points. Alternate exits.
Second alternates. People in placeplaces would never be seen unless everything went wrong.
