The next morning felt strange.

Not loud, not chaotic, just strange in that heavy, quiet way where it feels like something inside you is still shaking, even if the world outside has already moved on.

I avoided Cassian again. I told myself it wasn’t on purpose, but of course it was. Being near him after what happened last night felt like standing too close to a fire. You want the warmth but it scares the hell out of you at the same time.
