Naomi’s POV

The call came at dawn, and I was still sleeping when the call came in. I lay flat on the bed, refusing to stand up when Mara, one of Cassian’s lieutenants, stepped into my room without knocking. The way she looked at me told me before she spoke that something had broken.

“Naomi,” she said, voice flat. “We have a problem.”

My stomach dropped like a stone.

“What is it?”

She shut the door behind her, then leaned against it with a tired strength.

“Reyes is alive.”
