Maya stepped out of her car and began walking toward the lecture room, her heels clicking on the pavement. She was lost in thought, going over her notes for the day's class, when suddenly she heard a voice behind her.

"Hey!"

Maya turned around, her eyes scanning the stranger who had addressed her. He was a young guy, probably around her age, with a messy mop of hair and a charming smile.

"Maya, not 'hey'," she replied, her tone playful but firm.

The guy looked taken aback, his eyes widening in surprise.

"Oh, my bad," he muttered, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

"I'm new here, I guess I didn't know...
