“Where have you been?”
I knew he would use the back door, so I stayed on one of the chairs in the courtyard garden and waited for him. I glanced down at my wristwatch, and it was already two in the middle of the night.
He stopped, eyes widened, surprised. In one of his hands was a cigarette. I never saw him smoke before. But I guess five years was enough to change a person.
