My eyes snapped open, and the first thing that met my gaze was the surface of the room's ceiling.

I rolled onto my side in the hopes of finding Arnold asleep next to me, but he’s not here and he’s nowhere to be found. The fact that the bed was cold indicated that he didn’t sleep in this room with me.

Where might he be? Why did he not return back here in the room at any point during the night? Did he figure out that this was me, and not Celestine?
