(Lily’s POV)

The apartment smelled like takeout and tension when I finally came home.

I had stayed at work longer than I needed to, answering emails that could have waited, rearranging folders that didn’t matter, anything to delay the moment I would walk through the door and see him again. The almost-kiss from the morning still lived under my skin. Every time I closed my eyes on the train I felt the ghost of his breath against my cheek and the way my body had leaned toward him before my mind could stop it.
