We stepped out into the hallway and the door to the studio clicked shut behind us. The corridor lights were dimmer than the ones inside, casting long shadows along the scuffed linoleum. Ethan walked a half step ahead the way he always did when the building emptied out, keys already in his hand even though we both knew neither of us was heading home yet.

“You’re still coming, right?” he asked without looking back.

I adjusted the strap of my bag on my shoulder. “To the thing at Jordan’s?”
