Maya’s pov

I was still on the couch when the front door opened again. I hadn’t moved much since he walked into the bedroom. The blanket was twisted around my legs. His shirt still smelled like his skin and the kitchen and the way he had kissed me like he was already inside me.

Ethan stepped inside and shut the door behind him with a quiet click that sounded too final. He had his bag over one shoulder and the same restless energy he had carried out of the kitchen earlier. His eyes found me immediately. Whatever he had gone to class for no longer seemed to matter....
