“Adrian, we need to talk. Tonight. Don’t refuse.”
Marceline’s cold voice echoed at the other end of the phone. Adrian had just wrapped up a meeting at the office, but her tone immediately put him on guard.
“What’s so important you had to summon me this late at night?” Adrian asked suspiciously.
“This is about the inheritance, about the company. I can’t discuss it at home—too many ears. Meet me at La Rouge Club at nine.”
Adrian frowned. He knew the place—an infamous nightclub downtown, filled with pounding music and alcohol. It made no sense Marceline wanted to talk there. But refusing would only spark another problem.
