The afternoon air was crisp, a faint chill brushing through the city as Deviana stepped out of her car. She hadn’t meant to come here—her heart had led her. Something inside refused to settle since that night she saw Leviana faint dramatically in Adrian’s arms.

Deviana tilted her head up, her eyes narrowing as she spotted the familiar building—Leviana’s apartment, where Adrian had been spending most of his time. She almost turned back, but then movement at the entrance caught her eye.
