I stood there, frozen, my hand still on the doorknob. My heart was beating too fast, loud enough that I was sure he could hear it from the other side.
“Sienna…” Jaxon’s voice came again, softer this time, low and careful, like he was scared I might break.

I swallowed, my throat raw from crying. “There’s nothing to talk about,” I managed, but my voice cracked halfway through.
