The tension in the air between Lily and Kella could’ve cut glass.

Kella leaned against the staffroom counter, arms folded, her smirk subtle but sharp. "Tough week, huh?"

Lily didn’t respond at first. Her eyes were heavy, darkened by the sleepless nights since her suspension. She stepped closer, her voice taut. "You think this is funny?"

Kella shrugged. "I think maybe you should’ve been more careful. These kinds of mistakes… they cost lives."

Lily’s jaw clenched. The words replayed in her mind: medication dosage error, resulting in patient collapse. But she knew she didn’t make that error. She checked that file, cross-checked the vitals. She was always careful. Too careful....
