The wind was cold tonight. Not the kind that nipped at your skin, but the kind that curled around your bones and reminded you of everything you’d lost.
I stumbled through the woods, my bare feet bleeding from the rough ground. My eyes burned, but the tears had stopped a while ago. Maybe I’d run out of them.
"He didn't even look back…" I whispered to no one.
"You still have me," my wolf whispered gently. Her voice was like a soft echo in my chest, soothing but trembling too.
