I woke with a start, my heart pounding in my chest. I was drenched in a cold sweat, my hands gripped the sheets so tightly they had torn, the fabric shredded under my claws.

My breath came in ragged gasps, and it took me a moment to realize where I was— lying in bed, Kate’s warm body nestled against mine. But even the comfort of her presence wasn’t enough to chase away the horror of what I’d just seen.
