Vane's voice was calm. Almost polite. Like they were meeting at a dinner party instead of a gunfight.
Sienna couldn't respond. His arm was crushing her windpipe. Black spots danced in her vision.
Leo was screaming. Thrashing in her arms. "Mama! Mama!"
"Quiet the boy," Vane said. "Or I'll do it for you."
Sienna managed to choke out words. "Shh, Leo. It's okay. Be quiet, baby. Please."
Leo buried his face in her shoulder. Still crying but quieter.
Dante stood frozen. Gun lowered. Every muscle tensed. "Let them go, Vane."
"I don't think so." Vane shifted his grip slightly. Gave Sienna just enough air to breathe....
