We left the mansion at dawn with everyone loaded into the three vehicles. I sat in the passenger seat of the lead SUV while Dante drove and Marcus sat in the back. The other two vehicles followed close behind us as we headed north toward the mountains.

The sky was just starting to lighten and the roads were empty. We had a long drive ahead of us and everyone knew it. Two days of nonstop travel to reach the fortress before the full moon.
