With the Patriarch dead on the ground in front of me I felt everything inside me suddenly give out. The hybrid form that had kept me standing started to recede. The fur on my arms disappeared. The claws retracted back into my fingers. The golden glow in my eyes faded.

I was just Soraya again. Just a human girl who had been through too much.

My legs buckled and I started to fall. Everything hurt. My wrist where I had torn out the seal was bleeding again. My body was covered in cuts and bruises from the fight. I had nothing left.
