The minute Kent waved Roxy goodbye and raised his tinted window glass, he heard a knock on his window. Wondering if she had missed him already, he quickly lowered the window. But instead of Roxy, he saw Laura glaring at him, her brown eyes filled with feigned anger and disappointment.
"Laura," he said, his voice shaking.
"Kent," she replied, her voice cold and sharp. "You said you would send her home if she ever showed up at work, but she even worked overtime." Kent smiled as he stepped out of his car
"No, no, no," he stammered, "I tried my best but you know how strong-headed she can be.
