The door opened.

An older woman walked in keeping her head low. She was holding a tray with a jar of juice and some sandwiches in a saucer.

Martha! Finally, I thought.

She walked to the table and dropped the tray with an apologetic nod.

I was about to tell Nancy it was the cook and she had just saved me from starving to death when I noticed she was looking at Martha funny.

Nancy stiffened as the older woman turned around. Her eyes grew twice their size as she gasped.
