The next morning felt like walking through a minefield.
Ryan was already in the kitchen when I came downstairs, nursing a cup of black coffee, staring out at the ocean with a tight jaw. Jax stood a few feet away, leaning against the counter, arms crossed, looking every bit the dangerous man he was — but his eyes softened the second they landed on me.
