The Moon Goddess stood at the edge of their silver circle. Her presence filled the room with warm light. Laura felt peace wash over her for the first time in months.

"My child," the Goddess said softly. "You have done well."

Laura pulled a fur around herself and sat up. She felt the four Alphas move closer, protective even in the presence of divine power.

"You came," Laura whispered.

"I had to. The ritual called to me. And there are things you must know."

The Goddess stepped into the circle. Her feet made no sound on the stone floor.

"Tell me about Kragoth," Laura said.

The Goddess's face grew sad....
