Erik’s POV

The troops started their march, and I returned to our bedroom to check on Clara. I saw her sleeping peacefully and headed towards the kitchen since my mother mind-linked me earlier to eat.

I saw my mother standing in the kitchen while removing her apron. “Mom,” I said, calling her attention.

She looked at me and smiled. “Here you are. I thought you’ll be late again. Where’s Clara?” She asked.

“In the bedroom, sleeping,” I said and sat on one of the chairs at the dining table. My mother served the food and put some plates on my side table. I smiled and whispered thanks while she moved...
