When I saw my mate in labour, it was as if the world beneath my feet was shattering; and there was nothing I could do but to hold her hand firmly.

Even when she screamed, when she came over and began to drag my shirt and slapped my shoulders. I knew she was not able to think straight in that condition and of course that was not something I needed to be told. so I held onto her and I whispered reassuring words in her ears.

I assured her that I was there for her as I had always been and I always would.
