“Did you notice anything out of the ordinary while I was away?” Dominic’s question brought me out of my bewilderment.

I adjusted my stance. “Well, I did hear a door close suddenly. I thought it was Ruby, but when I got upstairs, she was still sleeping. Then, I noticed that your door was a bit ajar. But before I could investigate, Ruby started-”
