I watched Anthony pace back and forth in the living room, his broad shoulders tense and his face twisted up in frustration.
He had been studying nonstop for finals, and it showed in every step he took, like his body was screaming for a break.
The sun was setting outside, filling the room with that soft orange light that made everything feel a little warmer and more inviting. With my husband, his dad, away on a business trip to Chicago for the whole week, the house felt empty and quiet, just the two of us here to fill the space.
