He strides in, his eyes staring at me like he isn't the reason why my heart is pounding so furiously.

"So, where were we?" his voice slurs, and my eyes flutter to meet his, tears glistening in them.

He stops, the brightness on his face disappearing as he stares at me, his expression worrisome.

"What's wrong, sweetheart?" he asks, reaching to touch me, his height towering above me.

I step back, dodging his touch. Like seriously?

"Don't you dare touch me! Sweetheart? Is that even a word to you?" My voice is throaty as I speak, each word giving away my emotions-not like I was planning to hide them...
