RAFAEL
The door clicks shut behind me, sealing me in with ghosts I've tried to outrun for years.
I take slow steps into the room, each one dragging a memory with it. My eyes drift to the bed, and in a blink, Its like a vision, my mom, sitting there, cradling me against her chest. Singing my favorite song softly, rubbing my back the way only she could. The scent of lavender and warm tea used to fill the room, a scent I've gotten addicted to, and I'll coax and sleep peacefully. Now it's just the faint trace of wood polish and time.
I squeeze my eyes shut. It hurts....
